beginners (min age 7) privates only

At T5 TENNIS we believe first impressions are critical for a student to progress well. Even as young as seven years old. The first lesson, the first term sets up their expectations for the lessons. It is critical to get off on the right foot with swing and movement so it is quicker and easier to learn how to rally. We strongly advocate focus over fun, of course we want them to love tennis but if they expect 100% ‘fun’ and no ‘focus’ it will be wasting your hard earned money. Out of all the sports, tennis has a very high difficulty factor. No way around it. Like a musical instrument it is hard to learn. Our job is to gage their capacity for learning and adjust the program accordingly. All kids are different, some are pleasers, some are rebels, some like hitting a ball hard, some like hitting it soft. Since we only do privates we do exercises that enhance good technique and the lessons work for the child’s personality. So within a year to eighteen months they usually can rally with topspin.

The ideal age to start is seven years plus. We limit movement on the first few terms so they get use to the bounce of the ball and learning the swing, From day one they are introduced to a pro swing. We only coach top spin forehand and backhand before introducing serve, then slice and finally volleys. We recommend at least 1.5 years of privates (minimum one hour a week) before they can enter any type of shared or group scenario.

Beginners start on orange ball and then progress to second hand yellow balls (100% compression) as soon as ready (usually within six months). No red or green balls permitted.
